How do I calculate my STPM CGPA?

STPM CGPA is calculated by adding up the grade points for your best 4 subjects (Pengajian Am is compulsory) and dividing by 4. The grading scale is: A=4.00, A-=3.67, B+=3.33, B=3.00, B-=2.67, C+=2.33, C=2.00, C-=1.67, D=1.00, F=0.00. For UPU application, only your best 4 subjects are counted.

What SPM results do I need for IPTA?

SPM alone doesn't qualify you for IPTA degree programmes — you need a pre-university qualification (STPM, Matriculation, Foundation, or Diploma). However, good SPM results (typically 5A+ and above) help you secure spots in competitive Matriculation and STPM programmes. For Polytechnic Diploma, you need at least 3 credits in SPM including Bahasa Melayu.

How many A's do I need for JPA scholarship?

JPA (Public Service Department) scholarships are extremely competitive. What is the difference between SPM and STPM?

SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia) is taken after Form 5 (age 17) and is equivalent to O-Levels. STPM (Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia) is taken after Form 6 (age 19) and is equivalent to A-Levels. STPM is a pre-university qualification that directly qualifies you for IPTA degree programmes through UPU. STPM is generally considered more rigorous than Matriculation and is recognised internationally.

Can I enter university directly after SPM?

Not directly into a degree programme at IPTA. After SPM, you need a pre-university pathway: STPM (1.5 years), Matriculation (1 year), Foundation (1 year), or Diploma (2-3 years). However, some IPTS accept SPM leavers directly into Foundation or Diploma programmes. The fastest route to a degree is: SPM → Matriculation (1 year) → IPTA Degree (3-4 years).
