Body Mass Index (BMI) is a simple measure of body weight relative to height. In Malaysia, the Ministry of Health (MOH) uses Asian BMI cutoffs which are lower than international WHO standards — because research shows that Asians develop health complications (diabetes, heart disease) at lower BMI levels than Western populations.
